Finding good personnel remains a challenge for logistics entrepreneurs, as revealed by the first quarter 2019 business cycle survey conducted by TLN. The sector is doing reasonably well, but concerns about increasing costs and slim profit margins persist.
Around 41 percent of transport entrepreneurs indicate having one or more vacancies for drivers or other staff. Two-thirds (67 percent) of companies struggle to fill these positions. Entrepreneurs are finding it increasingly difficult to find qualified personnel in sufficient numbers. Good drivers are hard to come by, as many entrepreneurs explain.
The shortage of drivers in road transport is somewhat leveling off, and the aging trend appears to have halted. These are two outcomes of the second TTM.nl Summit held in June 2019. However, the shortage will persist for at least five more years.
Companies need to offer added value in order to recruit or retain drivers. A prime example of this is providing secondary employment benefits, as well as implementing general measures to improve comfort on the road, such as a stand air conditioning system.
With the Piccolo Splitter stand air conditioning, drivers can hit the road safely and comfortably. By being better rested when starting their shifts, they also contribute to fewer accidents.
Furthermore, using the compact stand air conditioning system also has a favorable effect on fuel consumption, which can lead to significant savings. Learn more about the Piccolo Splitter here.
